Did you Ever?
Did you ever think that dogs could really tell you how they feel? Did you ever think that teddy bears could talk? Did you ever think that Dad could fix anything that needs it? And Mom knows everything there is to know? Did you ever build a tower, and see it crumble down, and know that you could put it up again? Did you ever feel the power that you could do it all, no matter what the other people said? And have you climbed the highest tree and looked at people on the ground? Or skated on the ice when it was thin? Or had the nerve to stand and speak up for your friend when everybody had it in for him? Did you seek shelter in the crowd and try to hide your face, when they asked if someone knew the nation’s song? Or have you been the one who remembered all the words,. and had the nerve to sing it all alone? Can you tell a friend “I love you.” when he needs to hear it most? Can you prove it with some action when it counts? Would you try to help a stranger when you think that he needs you, or turn your back, pretending you don’t see? How do you measure people? Is it how much they are worth? Or how much they can do for you that counts? Or do you judge and treat them as you do yourself? Weren’t they children just like we were at one time? We all had hard and easy lessons as we came through life. And now we hear the call to action in this bitter strife. Whatever happens in this world happens to us all. What will be your share to do in answer to the call.
