According to a student named Liza, human nature is naturally good. It's only the environment that could corrupt a person and turn them into 'a bad person'. The nature vs nurture debate has been going on for years and both sides can be right. There have been cases where someone was nurtured into a bad person, but still turn out to be good deep down. However, not everyone is like that. A person can be innocent from birth, but can be torn apart throughout their life, shaping them into the monsters that shaped them.
Despite all of this, I still believe that humans are terrible in nature. Strip away all the laws in the world and it's expected that humans will immediately turn selfish. Anarchy is always depicted as a nightmare, because there is nothing to stop anyone from murdering each other, stealing from each other, and hurting each other. People will only look out for themselves and others they care for. No one would ever care about a stranger.
I personally think that everyone is born with that human nature. And it is good because with human nature comes caring and feeling for one another. That’s what makes human because we begin to care for one another and many other things. We can also develop this human nature but from when your in your early stages and a baby you’re already caring and knowing different feelings for example your parents. To me it’s good because if we didn’t have that human nature we wouldn’t care for things like people and certain objects even animals. In all it’s one of the best things that we get as humans because that makes us different from others and different ethnicities.
The students who read their responses claimed that human nature is good, human nature is good according to one of the students because it gives us the ability to love. It also gives us the ability to recover from past experiences in life. Although they also claim that human nature can be bad and it is learned that "seeing and listening play a huge part in development" says one of the students.
In my opinion i believe that human nature is good, people are born with kindness and love in their heart. When a baby is born and raised they are innocent and curious they are not born with hate in their heart. They are not born seeing race or ethnicity, it is when they grow up and the people they are surrounded with in life who teach them these things. This is when human nature is at it's worst, when we lose our innocence and start to have preconceived judgments on someone, stereotypes, and racism towards others.
The students that present that day both claim that human nature is good. Because humans have the ability to love, care, and be sympathetic, however, in my personal opinion I believe that the ability to both love and hate is learned. According to famous psychologist Sigmund Freud, nurture wins over nature because he believes that an infant from birth to being fully developed gets his or her personally and morals from the environment that surrounds them. I believe that the mind is a blank piece of paper, and whether or not the we choose to fill that page with kindness and love or fill it with hate and envy.
Some scientists say we are bad in nature, and without rules we will wreak havoc upon everything. Again I think, we are not bad in nature, we are just simply going into survival mode. Humans are primitive at heart, it is wired in the back of our brains. If there an apocalypse and everyone dies and the next generation will be born back into the stone age, of course there is no rules in the stone age, but that does not mean humans will start killing each other. Instead they will re-learn everything, from making fire to hunting to mating and then later on build a new society. By re-learning everything using only the enviroment around them, the blank page in their heads are fill with new information that is crucial to they're survival.
I agree on my classmates about human nature being good because we all learn how to love and care for one another. People turn into "bad people" for a reason it could be how other treat them or the childhood that they grew up in. When we are born we don't have intentions to do any harm to anyone were just innocent creatures. Through out the year we all show our true color we show our true identity that identifies who we are.
When us humans go through hard times we learn how to become stronger people how to deal with our problems. Yes we are born in a very cruel world which is another reason why we might act different we might act like selfish people who don't care for others but themselves. Human nature also depends on our ethnicity and where we come from.
Arianna stated, humans are intelligent, creative, decent loving human beings, which I can agree with, most of time. In my opinion most human beings are born innocent. I believe we can all commit evil. I also understand some human beings can be born with genetic links to psychopathy. I have no doubt that there is a combination of nature and nurture. Nature can refer to genetic predispositions. Nurture is the influence from ones environment. Arianna also mentioned that we also pick up bad habits and characteristics from people all around us. I would also have to agree with David, we all come from different cultures and walks of life, I think that plays a huge factor whether we chose to be good or bad as human beings.
Recently, two women gave their responses to a prompt on human nature and whether we are naturally good are bad. They went on about we are very social creatures and seek companionship from others and how we can be affected by internal and external factors. They elaborate more an the definitions of nature and nurture and how these form the base for our intelligence. They sum it up by saying we are born generally as good people.
I almost agree with their statements. Where we differ is that I believe we are born as neutral slates mentally. Our brains haven't developed to where we can understand and differentiate good from evil. Innocent does not necessarily mean good. I do agree that our compasses can be shaped by our experiences and findings. I would say that this is a more realistic view of human nature.
Humanity is born into sin, so I’ve been told. Fundamentally speaking, how do we know if a human is naturally good or bad? Let’s start by looking at the most innocent human, a baby. They are new to the world and have little cultural influences. Though they can speak their mind they do have a way communication. Just as they have no control of any reaction such as muscular, emotional, and yes including control of their bowels. It leaves them susceptible to an instant reaction and outburst of body language without having to fully understand the situation.
I myself have observed, babies in a room full of joy and attention tend to have a smile on their face. Especially when when it’s directed towards the baby. In addition I’ve also observed a baby in an environment where it is unpleasant and the baby is in utter discomfort and crying. As the Children get older they tend to display the same experiences they’ve had in the environment that brought them up. If that environment was kind and loving the child will reflect kindness and love to another. In conclusion, humanity is naturally good we just tend to reflect our environment.
According to the students nature is good. I think the same. Nature is good at least in the mayority of cases just in very counted ocassions is not. But in the norm nature is good. Is the nurture that change in the human being when is subject for bad and neglected behaviors. Specially when never experience something different in their early years. Thàt bad behaviors are so printed that is difficult to change.
I agree with my classmates, that human nature is good yet, they can become evil when being around people that have bad intentions. Although this can be the case in some scenarios, it is not always the people who they grow up around that influence the child. The child himself/herself could just grow up being evil. I agree that when you're born you have no evil intentions, they can't talk or walk and don’t know the right from wrong. Babies need their mothers to take care of them. I believe the environment that the child lives in it reflects on how the child might turn out to be, if the child lives in a good environment the child is going to grow up being a good kid but if the child lives in a poor environment there's a possibility that the child might grow up with evil. Children tend to catch bad habits very quickly as they grow up without knowing right from wrong.
I actually believe that human nature is good. Human nature is about the feelings and behavioral traits that we all have. So far there is not a person that I know who chooses or wants to be alone. Meaning, everyone wants someone to share theses psychological characteristics with. Without human nature I feel there would be no mankind.
I do believe that people are born with human nature. However, I also feel that there are a lot of factors that can change these good psychological characteristics to a person. These feelings and traits are all formed in our brain. So, for example, if someone was born with an underdeveloped brain, that itself can play a huge role on how that person reacts or if that person is even capable to feel certain feelings. Or if someone was raised in a home where they were constantly being mentally abused. That can also change the way that individual feels. You can be the nicest person ever, but if that person was to end up in an accident and have a brain injury, depending on the type of injury, once healed that person can be someone completely different.
Basically, I feel that everyone is born good, but that there a lot of factors that can cause someone to change and develop certain psychological characteristics that end up not being good.
Humans make us happy. Humans are programmed to recover from bad experiences. Humans are born innocent. Humans are decent and loving all the time. Humans pick up characteristics from people we don’t know. Humans collaborate.
Humans do make us happy especially if it’s someone we care for and have a relationship that is meaning full. I think most humans are programmed to recover from bad experiences because our memory doesn’t hold every event we’ve experienced in life. Humans are born innocent to the world but not so innocent to the five senses of sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch.
I believe humans, if they choose to be, can be decent and loving. I don’t agree that humans can pick up characteristics from others. I believe our characteristics are shaped from within the family bloodline. Last but not least. It is essential for human to collaborate. If not, humans can’t evolve and move forward in this life.
I believe the human nature is good, for the simple reason being that when a baby is born they're innocent. Someone does not just randomly wake up one day and tell themselves "I'm going to be a bad person". Everyone is born good as a baby, but it is the people themselves that start to change as they become older and develop a bad human nature. Many people start to change when they start hanging out with the wrong crowds or when they are having problems at home. It's like Hitler, Hitler did not just wake up one day and wanted to get rid of the Jews, Over time he started changing and started believing in different things. To put this into better words he basically started changing over time from his past experiences and what he had gone thru. In conclusion people are born with good human nature but it is the people and their experiences that cause them to turn their good human nature into a bad one.
They say human nature is good. They were born innocent but its their family, friends, and the people they meet throughout their lives that influenced and shaped them into the people the are today. In addition, they also stated that human nature is good because it gives us the ability to love and recover from our past experiences in life. Nobody is born evil. The bad things they do are caused by poverty and stress.
I agree with what they said because I also believe that human nature is good and everyone is born innocent. Because when babies are born they don't know anything they are just like a blank piece of paper waiting and relying on their parents or caregiver to teach them everything they know. Kids usually pick up bad habits and things they learn from the people they surround themselves with on the everyday bases. So therefore, that's why I believe that it's the people they hang out with and the environment that they grew up in that influences them to become the person they are today. In conclusion, nobody was born evil it was just the people they grew up, stress, and poverty that influenced them to become the person they are today.
I believe human nature starts as good but through out the years it can go good or bad. You first start as a good innocent baby and everyone knows there’s nothing evil in you. Your parents could be bad people or criminals but you don’t start that way when you are born. I believe that if you grow up with a bad or terrible family that shows you to be bad in life then you will get that in your head and you will grow to be bad. I blame the people that the baby is born with because that’s how you see if they are good or bad. If you see a a kid with a family that has good attitude and are open to anyone then you say that they are good innocent kids. On the other hand if you were to see a kid with a criminal family then you think the kid will turn out like them. Your surroundings are who to blame because you grow up with them and you pick up with how they act and you follow. There’s a low percentage of kids being a leader and showing others what’s good or bad. Kids attend to follow instead of leading because sometimes they don’t want to be looked at none cool or like kids say “ lame”. Kids will do anything to make them fit with others because they don’t want to be that kid with no friends. People say that if you grew up in a ghetto or dangerous place then you will be ghetto or dangerous. If you where born in a high class city or neighborhood then you will be looked as a good innocent kid. So do I think if human nature is good or bad? Well I think it all depends on you and how you wanna be looked as.
I believe human nature is good because we can learn to love other people and have sympathy for other people, for example when a big disaster occurs we try to support these strangers by donating our own money to help them recover from the disaster. I also believe the environment plays a big role because if a child was raised by abusive parents that perform physical abuse on the child, then that child can possibly exhibit the abuse against another child because they learned it from their parents. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the child will follow in the footsteps of their parents because I believe human nature is good and it’s possible for children to be aware of the actions they’re performing and in some cases know if they’re doing the correct thing or not.
I believe human nature goes off of the environment you’re born into. The way you are is because of what you’re around and what you’re used to. If you’re born into a family with a gang related past you can easily be turned into something like that, but if you’re born into a family that has nothing gang related you will most likely not turn into someone that wants to be in a gang. From being around to people who are nice to people who are mean can be a huge change to you. To be born into a mean family can make you mean, to be born into a nice family can make you a nice person too. If you’re mean and hanging around people who are nice and care about people’s feelings then you will soon too turn into someone who’s nice and cares. Being around something for a long time makes you catch the traits of what you’re always around.
In both students responses they implied that Human nature is a good thing and i agree with them. Ones environment can have a huge impact on someone’s human nature and turn it bad . For example if someone is brought up in a abusive household they will tend to grow up an abusive person , but this isn’t always the case. Just like one of the students implied that we tend to pick up characteristics from people we don’t even know . I agree with that statement because i believe if we see someone doing something a certain way that is having a good outcome we tend to wanna learn and change our ways because we also believe that if we do it like that we will have a good outcome as well. One of the students also brought up nature vs nurture . I don’t believe that being a bad person is something that is passed on and in our genes . There are cases where we are nothing like our parents and relatives . For example if one is to have a parent that happens to be a murderer , that does not mean that the child will also be one just because their parent was. I do believe that our human nature is something that is nurtured , because i do think our childhood experiences and surrounding cultures do play a huge role on the person we are today.
I believe human nature is inevitable, we are both good and bad, many people do good things so they can carry that good karma with them and now they are left thinking that nothing bad will happen to them. Then we have people who believe by doing bad in this world....they’re supposedly bringing hope and goodness by getting rid of those who don’t see the same way as them. So I believe that this world is partly good and partly bad. Now, are we born with this nature? Of course we’re not, we are taught it, we learned it from those who raised us and brought us out to this world. If you teach a child that stabbing and shooting is the easiest way to defend yourself from someone, you have to explain to them that situation very clearly, because now, if someone were to offend them their human nature would be to pull out that weapon. In that case make sure to explain to them the right way to defend themselves right at the right age.
My classmates said that human nature is good. They believe that human nature is good because they are able to love, care for, and make others happy. Humans are born innocent, which means we all have good in us.
They also claimed that our surroundings and environment can alter a person's way of being.
I agree with my classmates that humans can be good. Yes we are all born innocent and can be good people but the majority of the human race decide not to. Therefore I disagree more than agree. Humans are greedy they only care about themselves. They are selfish, envious, lairs, and murders.
Even the nicest person can turn their back on you and think about themselves. At the end of the day humans do whatever it is they have to for them without caring about anyone else’s feelings. I feel like this world is filled with more bad people than good. That’s why there is so much crime and hate. A human can’t stand seeing another person doing good because they get jealous.
My classmates made some great points on their responses about human nature being good. Liza stated that as humans we are all born innocent but could be affected from psychological disorders. Humans are such a resilient species that can recover from almost anything in the matter of time. Ariana stated that we are decent human beings. She also stated that we interact with many strangers daily and often pick up on their characteristics.
I believe that human nature is naturally good. A human being is born innocent but can develop being bad. For Instance, children don’t know what’s wrong or what’s right they do what they learn and see on a daily basis and will continue doing what’s considered “bad”. We have the intentions of being good but at the end of the day we might make the mistake of making a bad decision. You can grow up in a good or poor environment and steer into a direction that’s not good for you.
In my opinion human nature is good, we aren't born with human nature. No one is born with intentions of being evil or good. As kids we don't know the good from the bad. We learn as we grow. For example, I have a little brother. It's my duty as a big brother to show him good from the bad. Teach him how he should respected others the way he would want to be treated. Now he knows how to be kind to others, help those in need of it. His life could of been completely different if I treated him baldy. It's the impact of our environment. Everything you say and do creates an impact
I agree with both students that answered human nature is a good thing. In my opinion we all have a choice of whether we want to be good or bad people. And yes not everyone chooses to be good so it alters how the world works. There’s good people and bad people. The good people bring a positive energy to the world by being loving and caring. While bad people release bad energy to the world. This gives a reason to believe human nature is a bad thing. We can’t stop bad things from happening like one of my classmates said it’s inevitable. But we were all born innocent. The people we surround us shapes us to be who we are. So in many situations if you’re around people who are genuinely humble you will grow to be someone with a kind heart. But if weren’t around these good influences we can tragically become into someone evil full of hatred, jealousy and bad intentions. So I believe this human nature stuff is developed.
It was mentioned that human nature was something we were born with and whether it was good or bad. They stated that human nature is a good thing we humans posses which allows us to love and to keep moving forward. As well as whether humans were born good or evil or if it was a choice that was influenced.
I think on the other hand that human nature is somethings we are born with but not limited to just love, good, or evil. Human nature allows us to think, feel and act. Which can lead to many outcomes of advancements in society, to improve ourselves and our surroundings. At the same time of improving our conditions we are hurting ourselves and those around us. For example the development in modern science has led too many advancements and discoveries which has proven beneficial to our everyday lives. But at the same time greed has taken a toll in our environment, using up resources at a high rate. This is what human nature causes, but it is not always bad we can simply enjoy the little things in life that make us happy without hurting anyone or anything.
From what I gathered from the responses my fellow peers had established, they believed that human nature was in fact good due to us being able to love and care for many things such as people, animals, and other aspects of life.n A very interesting point that was brought up explaining how all humans are born innocent and i do agree with that.
However, i believe that nature of a person is dependent on the person alone due to various things that happen within ones lifetime. Such factors can include, parental status, economic status, area of living, people of influence and many, many other factors that can coincide with the development of a persons human nature.
Liza said that she believes that everyone is born innocent. She states that they can be affected by their environment or upbringing. Nurture can be the main factor as to whether or not humans are born evil. She believes that evil humans are the result of poverty, racism, or by a harsh childhood. Ariana is on the same side as Liza because she said that human beings are being developed all the time. She says that we learn with our senses by watching and hearing how others are treated everyday.
Human beings are inherently born innocent but as they develop they become evil by the result of their environment. most of the prolific serial killers have a history of having a difficult childhood. this does not mean that everyone that has been abused or lived in poverty will turn evil. I believe at some point in our lives we are given a choice whether to go down the path of evil or not. perhaps it could just be human nature to want to kill another human but we just don't act on it because society says its against the law and there are consequences for those actions. I want to believe that those who chose to ignore the consequences and ignore society are like that because they learned to be that way instead of being born that way.
Human nature is taught through individuals in a person's life. It has been said that, "it is in our nature to destroy ourselves." I don't agree with that statement. Human beings are not animals with primal instincts. Our brains can contemplate, and we interpret the feelings of others, human and animal alike. We have the ability to empathize with those around us. This is the reason why soldiers who have been exposed to long or even short-term combat situations develop Post Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD). The acts of killing or witnessing death, leaves emotional scars that never heal. These adverse conditions are contrary to the human nature of destruction. A child in pre- school may attack another child for taking his crayon or toy away. Through intervention of parents and teachers, we teach the child that it is wrong and find alternative solutions.--
